Going for a walk on a Sunday just seems right, doesn’t it? We left at 12.45pm and arrived home at 2.45pm. The change in the weather was really noticeable, going from grey to brilliant blue, and by the time we were close to home, walkers were everywhere.
We went through villages and forests, where we stomped our way through mud, but were lucky enough to come home with clean shoes thanks to the endless snow.
I hope you enjoy the collection of photos from today’s two-hour fitfor15in15 walk from our house to Möriswil, Sariswil, Wohlen bei Bern and home again.
Wishing you a wonderful day.
- And we’re off … the driveway leaving our place. Notice the neighbour’s wood stack?
- This is the forest we drive past every day, that backs on to our property, but I’ve never been walking in this actual section as it’s quite small
- For some reason, when I see snow on these branches, I think of seagulls’ feet
- We started the walk the same as last Sunday’s wander – heading towards Möriswil
- The local school proudly owns part of this field
- This house (with four apartments, I think) has a funky ice formation
- The Swiss love to stack wood – I think these are temporary fence pails
- At the bottom of a hill behind Sariswil, a neighbouring village, is a cute collection of large farmhouses
- The architecture in these small villages is so heart-warming …
- As are the gardens …
- Not sure if this pool will survive to see another summer
- It’s really lovely to see these water troughs all over the rural parts of Switzerland, and sometimes still in the cities. The water is normally perfectly drinkable, and the ones that are unsafe are usually marked as such
- Can you spot the sweet bird houses on this farmhouse wall?
- Imagine this garden, in full bloom, in a few months!
- Leaving the village behind and heading up to the fields
- Wish I had some skis handy! A nice gentle slope, but maybe not enough snow …
- Looking back into the small village, which we think is part of Sariswil
- Sariswil, which is mainly settled along the main road through the town, in the distance
- The sun came out in full force at the top of the hill. From grey to blue …
- My nose got a little bit burnt …
- You can tell which way the wind was blowing! Snow-covered tree trunks give away little secrets
- Hopefully your eagle-eyes can spot the bird lookout, nestled next to the tree in the middle
- Another wood pile. The best is yet to come …
- Woodpile alley
- Couldn’t resist – more seagulls’ feet
- I really like the composition of this photo, with Leo leading the way. I stop to take so many photos, it must drive him batty!
- Keep following that yellow diamond! The diamond, or arrow, indicate the wanderweg path (hiking path)
- Some logging turned the path into an obstacle course. So did the mud
- Now this is a bit more like it – wood rolled up and ready for transportation
- The collection even had a plastic roof over it to keep it drier
- Heading down the hill to the main road to take us back to Wohlen
- Looking back from where we’d just been. Kinda glad we came down …
- Walking back into Wohlen. The big building on the left is our favourite place for a local meal, Restaurant Kreuz
- Across the street from the restaurant is the old school house, which is now apartments. The new school house is behind and to the right (unseen)
- Beautiful bare trees in the restaurant carpark. I wish I knew the name of them
- Hopefully the kids (the sign says Careful, Children) didn’t leave this behind
- Looking up towards my favourite farmhouse on the hill. We’re getting close to home now
- As we walked through the fields to get home, the sun was strong. Wind was too cold to leave our ears exposed, but the warmth on our backs was delicious!
- Our neighbours include the warehouse and factory facility for Wohlen town council. The blue and gold emblem is the flag of Wohlen, and our house is in the distance
- Someone walked through the middle of the white sea!
- So I decided I would too!
- Our little house, which is called a Stoeckli. The Australian flag (a present from our neighbours) flies proudly all year (and tomorrow is Australia Day!)
- Big kid, I am …
- What’s left behind. I hope you enjoyed the walk too.
I enjoyed your walk and your snow angel! Thanks for sharing.
